Mark A. Weitzel
The Reverend Mark A. Weitzel has been the Rector of St. Mark’s since All Saints’ Day, 1993. Previously, Mark served as the Associate and Interim Rector of St. Mark’s, Associate Rector of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Winnetka, and Chaplain to the Bishop of Los Angeles. Mark earned his M. Div. |

from The General Theological Seminary in New York City in 1989. Prior to Seminary, Mark did graduate study in Medieval History at the University of Kansas. He earned his B.A. in History from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Mark is married to Shelley Filip Weitzel, a
life-long member of St. Mark’s. They live in Glendale with their two children, Rebecca and Benjamin, and their Collie Charlie.

Associate for Youth
The Rev'd Earl Gibson
The Reverend Earl Gibson is the Associate for Youth
of St. Mark's, guiding youth events and education
programs for those in 5th through 12th grades, as well
as young adult activities. He previously served as Canon
for Youth and Young Adult Ministry in the Diocese of
Arizona, and prior to that served as Associate for Youth
at St. John's, La Verne. Earl received his B.A. from Cal
State Fullerton in Religious Studies, and attended
seminary at General Seminary in New York City and
Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, California,
where he earned his M.Div. He has over 100,000
motorcycle miles under his belt, is passionate about
Porto's Bakery, and lives in Rowland Heights.

Assisting
The Rev’d O. Harold Anderson, Jr.
The Rev. O. Harold Anderson, Jr., Assisting Priest, is a native of Galveston, Texas. He received his A.A. degree from Idaho State University, Pocatello, and received degrees from Phillips University,

Oklahoma, and Brite Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. He did graduate work at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
“Father A”, as he is known to many, was ordained in the Episcopal Church in 1955. He served as Rector of St. Luke’s, Ada, Oklahoma, and St. John’s, Norman Oklahoma. Prior to joining St. Mark’s in 2003, he served as assisting priest at St. Matthew’s, Pacific Palisades, and St. Thomas the Apostle, Hollywood.

James M. Wallace,
M. Music
James Wallace has headed St. Mark’s music program since 2001. James came to St. Mark’s from St. George’s School, Newport, Rhode Island, where he was Choirmaster, School Organist and head of the Music Department.

James holds bachelor’s degrees in church music and organ performance from Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, Washington, and the Master of Music degree in Church Music/Choral Conducting from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey. Additionally, James was a Summer Music Fellow at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, in 1998. James received the Advanced Studies Certificate in Scoring for Motion Pictures and Television from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, in 2003.
James has a long history of musical service to the Episcopal Church. Past jobs have included St. Peter’s Church, Morristown, New Jersey, Christ and St. Stephen’s Church, Manhattan, Church of the Good Shepherd, Rosemont, Pennsylvania, Washington Memorial Chapel, the National Shrine at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and the Church of St. John the Evangelist, Newport, Rhode Island.
James’ choral compositions, including his Evening Service in A Flat and Preces and Responses in A Flat, are published by Paraclete Press.

Susie Fowler Kenny
Susie Kenny has been the Head of School at St. Mark’s Day School since August 2005, and a member of
Parish Staff for several
years, engaged in developing a variety of ministries, primarily those focused |

on outreach. She is also the founder and co-owner of SF&K, Inc., a consulting firm to the financial services industry, since 1989.
Susie has three amazing daughters (Stephanie, 23, Gwennie, 14, and Gracie, 12), two poorly trained Pugs (Sister Mercy Bernice and Sister Trinity Gertrude), and two cats who are always in hiding.
Susie is presently a Candidate for Holy Orders to the Diaconate.

Elaine Loke
Elaine Loke has been a member of St. Mark’s
since 1962 after coming
from Toronto, Canada.
She has two children and four grandchildren. She
has served in many areas during her 44 years as a member of the parish. She has been a Vestry |

member several times and is now the Clerk of the Vestry. She has been the Altar Guild
Directress for 18 years and is presently still in that position. After volunteering her time in the Church office for
nine years, she became an employee on November 1, 2005 in the office as the Administrator and Secretary
to the Clergy. Elaine takes a deep interest in
St. Mark’s and its future.

Bookkeeper and
Assistant Secretary
Liz DeFrance
Liz DeFrance is the Bookkeeper and Assistant Secretary here at St.
Mark’s. She also is one of the Day School Chaplains where she teaches
Hymns to the children at their Thursday Chapel.
She has Happy Feet which is a dance class that she
does with some of the Day School children. Liz sings in the soprano section of the Canterbury Choir. She
has one daughter, Sophia. |

Carol Ann Burton, M.D.
Dr. Carol Burton has been a member of St. Mark's for
over 50 years, having been baptized, confirmed and
married here. She was an Ob/Gyn in private private in
Glendale for over 17 years. Dr. Burton went to USC
Medical School ('83) after attending McGill
