Mark A. Weitzel

The Reverend Mark A. Weitzel has been the Rector of St. Mark’s since All Saints’ Day, 1993. Previously, Mark served as the Associate and Interim Rector of St. Mark’s, Associate Rector of St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Winnetka, and Chaplain to the Bishop of Los Angeles. Mark earned his M. Div.

from The General Theological Seminary in New York City in 1989. Prior to Seminary, Mark did graduate study in Medieval History at the University of Kansas. He earned his B.A. in History from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Mark is married to Shelley Filip Weitzel, a life-long member of St. Mark’s. They live in Glendale with their two children, Rebecca and Benjamin, and their Collie Charlie.

The Rev’d O. Harold Anderson, Jr.

The Rev. O. Harold Anderson, Jr., Assisting Priest, is a native of Galveston, Texas. He received his A.A. degree from Idaho State University, Pocatello, and received degrees from Phillips

University, Oklahoma, and Brite Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. He did graduate work at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.

“Father A”, as he is known to many, was ordained in the Episcopal Church in 1955. He served as Rector of St. Luke’s, Ada, Oklahoma, and St. John’s, Norman Oklahoma. Prior to joining St. Mark’s in 2003, he served as assisting priest at St. Matthew’s, Pacific Palisades, and St. Thomas the Apostle, Hollywood.

Susie Fowler Kenny

Susie Kenny has been the Head of School at St. Mark’s Day School since August 2005, and a member of Parish Staff for several years, engaged in developing a variety of ministries, primarily those focused

on outreach. Susie was ordained to the vocational diaconate in May, 2008. She has three amazing daughters (Stephanie, Gwennie, and Gracie), two poorly trained Pugs (Sister Mercy Bernice and Sister Trinity Gertrude), and two cats who are always in hiding, Smudge and Damsel.

David Houston

David Houston comes to us from Atlanta, Georgia, where he was Organist & Choirmaster at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. But more recently, David spent a year living in Copenhagen, Denmark.
David holds diplomas

from Mt. Vernon Nazarene College, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and the International Conservatoire de Paris, where he studied with Mme. Marie-Louise Langlais. David lives in a cute ‘casita’ in Atwater Village, and he loves exploring and getting around the LA area by bicycle.

Youth Minister
Kristen Lawson

Kristen Lawson is a graduate of Birmingham Southern College with a BA in Religious Studies, where she served as a ministry intern in the United Methodist Church for a year, a youth pastor for two years, and a teaching/research assistant for New Testament Studies for a

year. After graduation, she volunteered with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship for a year both domestically and abroad after a brief stint in Northern California to plant and establish a youth and children’s program in rural community.
From 2001-2006, she served at the International House of Prayer Missions Base in Kansas City, MO; and as a class and research assistant at the Forerunner School of Ministry. Kristen has spent the last three and a half years in Canada working with Singing Waters Ministries and Camp Hyanto, a camp of the Anglican Diocese of Ontario.
In September, Kristen moved to Pasadena to pursue her Masters in Family and Marital Therapy where she is presently enrolled.

Elaine Loke

Elaine Loke has been a member of St. Mark’s
since 1962 after coming
from Toronto, Canada.
She has two children and four grandchildren. She has served in many areas during her 46 years as a member of the parish. She has been a Vestry member

several times and is now the Clerk of the Vestry. She has been the Altar Guild Directress for 18 years and is presently still in that position. After volunteering her time in the Church office for nine years, she became an employee on November 1, 2005 in the office as the Administrator and Secretary to the Clergy. Elaine takes a deep interest in St. Mark’s and its future.

Health Minister
Carol Ann Burton, M.D.

Dr. Carol Burton has been a member of St. Mark's for over 50 years, having been baptized, confirmed and married here. She was an Ob/Gyn in private private in Glendale for over 17 years. Dr. Burton went to USC Medical School ('83) after attending

McGill University ('79) for her B.Sc. She did her residency at LAC-USC Medical Center.

Carol Ann has four daughters: Caitriana, Alexandra, Gillian and Cameron.
